The Garden Next Door: How One Woman Was Struck by Lightning, Talked to God, and Came Back to Dream the Future

In this lecture, Prof. Kripal will discuss his work with Elizabeth Krohn, a Houston woman who was struck by lightning in September of 1988 in the parking lot of her synagogue. The lecture will discuss some of the details of her subsequent near-death experience and the bizarre, and often terrifying, paranormal events that ensued. He will use these materials to refl ect on the limitations of our present models of the human and what these same materials might mean for the future of the humanities.
