My research explores the subjectivation processes within Protestant pastoral practices as part of state-building in the Chiapas Highlands, home to Indigenous Maya in Mexico. Broadly, I aim to focus on how the religious conceptions of the state relate both to the redefinition of the political and state-related phenomena such as militarization, health services, and justice.
I received my master’s degree from the Center for Research and Higher Studies in Social Anthropology (CIESAS); and my undergraduate degree in Social Anthropology at the National School of Anthropology and History (ENAH) in Mexico City.
