Dishani’s research focus lies in the anthropology of religion, with a particular emphasis on religious perceptions of climate change. She is also interested in Indic indigenous epistemologies, and their traditions of understanding the relations between natural and social worlds, ecology, life, and the sacred. Her doctoral project examines sacred natural sites in disaster-prone or post-disaster contexts in India, seeking to unpack the shared domains of faith and fear, mind and matter, and the cosmological and the planetary.

She earned both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Sociology from Presidency University, Kolkata, India.
