Bria Brooks is a coastal and community archaeologist specializing in the intersections of waterways and histories of the African Diaspora. She holds a Master of Arts in Anthropology from the University of West Florida and a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology from The University of Memphis. Her research explores coastal and underwater archaeology, shipwrecks, Marronage, enslavement, colonial conflict, and environmental archaeology, with a particular focus on how landscapes and bodies of water shaped the experiences of people and their descendants across the Western Hemisphere.
