Multi-sited Ethnography

I am interested in the ways in which technological developments in transport and infrastructure have given way to ephemeral, mobility-driven enclaves throughout human history. I am curious about the ways in which these temporary communities (such as pirate islands and trade caravan camps) might extend or challenge dominant cultural notions of self, sociality, autonomy, and belonging in the expanding frontiers of greater society.

My project is an ethnographic study of a digital nomad tribe. Made possible by trends in platform capitalism, tourism, and remote work (and many others, as I hope to show), I am spending the 2025-2026 school year traveling with this emerging, networked society across the globe.

Prior to joining Stanford, I received a master's degree in social sciences at the University of Chicago and a bachelor's degree in computer science at Brown University.
