Ayodele Foster-McCray is a third year PhD candidate in the department. Her research concerns the roles, constructions, and narratives of race in medical care and knowledge production, especially in the arena of maternal health care. Her current research centers on Black women's complex racial, class, and gender interfaces with interlocking, longstanding, and novel crises, with a focus the African American maternal mortality epidemic in the American South.
