Two Recent Articles by Professor James Ferguson

Department of Anthropology Chair and Professor James Ferguson recently published two articles on social and political anthropology in South Africa. The first article, titled How to Do Things with Land: A Distributive Perspective on Rural Livelihoods in Southern Africa, was published in January, 2013 in Journal of Agrarian Change (see PDF). The second article, titled Declarations of Dependence: Labour, Personhood, and Welfare in Southern Africa, was published in May, 2013 in Journal of Royal the Anthropological Institute (see PDF).
