Third Year PhD student Alexa Hagerty wins America Ethnological Society's Parsons Prize

Alexa Hagerty, an Anthropology 3rd year PhD student, was recently selected as the winner of the 2014 Elsie Clews Parsons Prize from the American Ethnological Society (AES). Her paper, titled "Speak Softly to the Dead: The Uses of Enchantment in American Home Funerals," was recognized for its "ethnographically and theoretically rich essay, written in a compelling and compassionate manner." The American Ethnological Society credits Alexa for bringing a fresh perspective on the relationship between death and bodies. Alexa will be recognized at the AES annual spring conference to be held in Boston from April 10th through 12th.
