Description of Talk: Jeffrey Mantz, NSF Program Director of Cultural Anthropology Program, will discuss opportunities for graduate students in Social Science at NSF. (Doctoral Dissertation Research Improvement Grants or DDRIG). He will discuss the elements of a research grant proposal, including statements of research problem, research significance, research design, and making a case for intellectual merit. He will also discuss NSF merit review, and what good and bad proposals look like. There will be a question-and-answer session, so be sure to come prepared to ask questions about how to make your grant proposal interesting. John Lee, Assistant DFO at the Department of Anthropology, will talk about DDRIG application process and timeline, including various documents to complete the proposal submission in research.gov portal, and other important notes.
