Abstract:

The landscape of digital tools is constantly changing. How can you make the most and best of them for your field work? In this brownbag we review experiences in the use of mobile devices, tools and technologies to conduct anthropological fieldwork. Focusing on research contexts with different requirements, we provide an overview of digital research tools, and share best practices, from audio recording and mapping to note taking, backup and how to handle sensitive data.
